HOW CHAIR MASSAGES STARTED
This form of massage was developed in 1984 by David Palmer who was providing head, neck and shoulder massages to Apple Computers employees in California. He designed the ergonomic chair to give maximum comfort and support to his clients.
THE BENEFITS
Massage can have a significant effect on your general health and well being. Some of the benefits experienced include:
- Reducing levels of the “stress” hormone cortisol, decreasing anxiety, stress and depression.
- Increasing the “feel good” neurotransmitters serotonin and oxytocin, boosting energy levels and enhancing mental alertness, encouraging feelings of positivity, vitality and well-being.
- Reducing muscle tension and associated pain, increasing flexibility and facilitating relaxation.
- Stimulating the circulation, this brings in fresh nutrients and oxygen and cleanses away toxins, encouraging natural healing.
YOUR TREATMENT
After a short consultation you sit on the chair in a kneeling position, resting on the chest, forearm and face supports. Massage is applied to your back, shoulders, neck and head.
Treatment times start from as little as 10 minutes so it can more easily be fitted into a busy regime.
It’s not necessary to use oils or lotions, and you don't need to remove your clothing.

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT
It is helpful to drink plenty of water following a treatment. Not only does this form of massage relieve tense aching muscles, feedback from working with staff also conveys that it boosts their morale.
